Kickoff to Viva En Madrid!
22 Hours and counting till I’m on my way to Madrid. My flight leaves at 10am on May 19th, and doesn’t arrive till 9am on May 20th. I thought I’d use this time to kickoff this blog. I’ll be posting updates about my travels, news on my program, and anything else I can think of while I’m abroad on a daily basis, if possible.I will be doing the 8 week Study Abroad Program through the International Programs in Engineering at the Universidad Pontifica Comillas in Madrid, Spain from May 20th till July 17th. For the first 4 weeks, I will in the language and culture program exploring Spain and immersing myself in the Spanish culture. Places we will be visiting include the Queen Sofia Museum, Royal Palace, and Prado Museum, among other sites.Following that course, I will be researching with the university on establishing a plan of action for used nuclear fuel from Spanish Reactors to provide the most economic benefit, whether through recycling all of the fuel from the 8 Spanish Reactors and utilizing the resulting MOX in a specialized factory to produce some additional power, or reselling the fresh fuel in the market.I would also like to send out a big thank you to those who supported my “30 Amigos” Project on Kickstarter. Although my funding goal wasn’t met, I will attempt to continue the project while abroad. Any interviews with individuals will be posted on this blog for all of you to enjoy before the final book is created. I will also be working several other photography projects while in Spain and if you guys have any suggestions, I would love to hear them.I hope you guys enjoy my blog and stay in touch while I’m abroad. I will have an international number if you would like to call, otherwise I will try to stay updated on facebook and this blog. I’ll have to be honest, I’m eager, but nervous, and excited, but anxious for this trip. I look forward to meeting my host family and creating new experiences. Talk to you guys later!
